Derby Walbrook Road, Normanton, Derby, Derbyshire, Derby#DERBYHAF Summer Scheme
Derby Walbrook Road, Normanton, Derby, Derbyshire, DerbyOpen Doors Forum (ODF) has a proven track record of delivering summer schemes for 20 years, serving well over 1200 children. ODF has delivered the HAF programmes from its start in 2021 in the summer and winter. ODF delivered the winter scheme project remotely due to covid health and safety restrictions. The scheme is for children and young people (CYP) aged between 5-16yrs who have been marginalised, offering a holiday activity club. Children come from various areas of Derby – covering 37 schools and largely from an African-Caribbean background, but not exclusive; many children of mix parentage and from single parent households with some having additional support needs due to LAC and/ or SEND. ODF club operates under OFSTED registration to host 32 children with four workers ratio. However, staff ratio increases to accommodate CYP with SEND/ LAC. Plus, more staff are required along with an additional building for the total 50 children. We have proven to be a big help to parents and carers of those more challenging children over the years, having a long-lasting good effect on those that encounter our services, which reflects in the children/young people we get year after year. We are still successful in the care we deliver to the community for the past 20 years.
